Dear Mendocino County,
Mendocino County isn’t just where I live, it is a part of who I am. I am fortunate to have been born and raised here. I have worked hard to be able to provide a home for my family and build a business I can be proud of. Despite the opportunities I have had, I am concerned for our children, families, businesses.
Change is a given as the world we live in is evolving, but many of the changes I see concern me. Our economy is stagnant, inflation is high, and our County is in a financial crisis. High rates of homelessness, drug abuse, and mental illness are painfully obvious. Our water supply is in question. My children are not growing up in as safe a community as I did, and may not have the same opportunities available. I have ideas for solutions to turn this around, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves to confront these challenges. We have the resources. Our community deserves better.
I am no stranger to challenges. Starting my farm business at age 20, caring for my father in the last years of his life, defending our ranch during the 2017 Redwood Complex Fire, and providing for my family are all things I have faced. In addition to work and family life, community service is important to me: volunteering for the American Cancer Society by visiting schools to teach children the importance of healthy eating habits and exercise, doing street outreach and harm reduction to some of the most vulnerable in our community, responding to hundreds of calls as a volunteer for Redwood Valley Calpella Fire Department during the 3 years I served. Currently, I work on water policy serving on the board of Redwood Valley County Water District and the Ukiah Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency. I also sit on the Redwood Valley Municipal Advisory Council.
I am no stranger to hard work and perseverance. The skills and experience I have gained over the last 25 years qualify me to help lead Mendocino County. My dedication to ensure a better life for our children, a safe community to live in, a good environment to do business, has motivated me to run for supervisor. I would be honored to represent the 1st District and serve as Mendocino County Supervisor.
