ABOUT ADAM GASKA
Adam was born and raised in Mendocino County, and is now raising his two children with his wife Paula.
Adam was raised in Redwood Valley, attending Calpella Elementary, Redwood Valley Middle School and Ukiah High School. He left high school early, earning his high school equivalency, then attended Mendocino Community College taking Alcohol and Other Drug Program classes looking to become a counselor or social worker. At the time, he worked as a community health outreach worker, serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community. At the age of 20, he changed gears to start his farm business, Mendocino Organics, in partnership with a friend. That friend eventually went on to manage Frey Vineyards while Adam stayed operating Mendocino Organics, producing vegetables. As time went on, Mendocino Organics shifted its focus to producing meat, and evolved into Mendocino Meats. A few years ago, seeing the value in Adam and his operation, Mendocino Meats was bought by Golden Vineyards who had been leasing him the land he farmed on, and salaried Adam to help co-manage Heart Arrow Ranch. Adam oversees the production of livestock-cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and poultry-that supplies The Golden Pig in Hopland and is marketed locally through an online platform.
Service to the community has always been important to Adam. After 2 decades of giving back in different ways, Adam is ready to move into playing a larger role in our community by serving as 1st District Supervisor. With 20+ years of experience and the knowledge he has gained, he is qualified and ready to lead.
Now Adam is involved deeply with water policy to help secure water supplies, make our regional water supplies more resilient, and face the challenges of drought and climate change. He serves on Redwood Valley County Water District as board chair, is the agricultural representative on the Ukiah Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency, and represents water suppliers on the newly formed Russian River Water Forum which seeks to secure a future for the Potter Valley Project. He also sits on the Redwood Valley Municipal Advisory Council.
